Music of the English Restoration
The English composer Pelham Humpfrey is not often heard in concert or known to many, but Humpfrey's musical style displays an enchanting synthesis of English, Italian, and French styles. Guest Chorus Master Zach Malavolti will prepare the choir and conduct portions of the concert.

About the event
Join the Oklahoma Baroque Orchestra and Choir as we explore the music of Pelham Humfrey and his contemporaries. As a child, Humfrey was sent to study in Italy and France—his music displays a brilliant synthesis of French, Italian, and English compositional styles. To highlight this synthesis, our program will include works by two exemplary contemporaries of Humfrey—Claudio Monteverdi and Marc-Antoine Charpentier.
Admission is FREE!
Program will include:
Claudio Monteverdi—Beatus Vir, SV 268
Marc-Antoine Charpentier—Magnificat, H 78
Pelham Humfrey—O Lord My God, By the Waters of Babylon, and O Give Thanks Unto the Lord
